Great Central U.S. Shakeout aims to increase Earthquake preparedness
Posted by on April 19, 2011 at 9:20 AM EDT
Earthquakes are sudden, violent shaking of the earth's crust. They are caused when the earth's tectonic plates move, rub, collide, or break apart. Earthquakes aren't predictable so the best practice is to always be prepared.
The Great Central U.S. Shakeout is an eight-state drill spanning much of the central United States. Persons on Indiana University campuses should review proper earthquake procedures.
