How to Register

Registration is handled through SANS' online registration portal, making self-service registration easiest for you. This also ensures that you receive credits on your SANS Portal account.

  1. Click the "Register Now" link in the course listing on this site
  2. Choose the Select Individual Remote Enrollment option (and appropriate employment status — which will be higher education for all IU faculty, staff, and students)
  3. You have three payment options:
    • Procurement card:
Enter your credit card information as normal. If the cost of the course is greater than your IU procurement card daily limit, you may wish to contact the Office of Procurement Services, who may be able to authorize a one-time exception.
    • IU Departmental account:
IMPORTANT: these instructions must be precisely followed in order for the internal billing option to work
      1. You MUST register using your IU email address (ending in .edu)
      2. Once you reach the payment page, scroll to the bottom to the "Payment Method" section
      3. Find the row/field labeled "US of Canadian Gov't Purchase Order"
      4. In the corresponding text field, enter your IU departmental account. You must enter the chart of accounts, account number, and any applicable sub account.
So, for an account 12-345-67, sub account SBACT, in the BL chart of accounts, the format would be: BL1234567SBACT
Note: SANS is unable to accept per person POs
      5. Finish by clicking the Federal Gov't PO button
      6. UISO will bill you internally after the class.
    • SANS Vouchers for OnDemand Training
The UISO has purchased (on a trial basis) several SANS voucher credits — which serve to lower the overall cost of the training. You may use them for approved training. The UISO will need to verify approval from your fiscal officer or account manager prior to approving the use of the voucher.

      To use the vouchers:
      1. Register for any SANS event as normal (including any applicable GIAC exam).
      2. Use the "Offline Voucher Payment" option, using Voucher Account #227505.
      3. You should receive a message that your order is complete.

Remember, the UISO will need to contact you and arrange to ensure that training funds are approved prior to releasing the voucher credits. A reminder: the Vouchers are for SANS OnDemand training only.

Note: if you do not use your IU email address, UISO will not be able to correlate billing properly. You will be responsible for paying SANS directly, and they are unable to accept per person POs.
