Chief Privacy Officer
Kim Milford serves the Chief Privacy Officer. In this role, she leads universitity initiatives on privacy, provides oversight for the University Information Policy Office, and serves as Chair for the Committeee of Data Stewards. Ms. Milford works closely with the University Information Security Office, Cheif Risk Officer, Cheif Compliance Officer, and University Information Technology Services to determine and implement appropriate safeguards for IU's community. Ms. Milford joined Indiana University in June 2007 as Special Assistant to the Vice President for Information Technology and was promoted to the position of Director for IT Communication and Media Technology in November 2010 before moving to Public Safety and Instititional Assurance.
Prior to joining Indiana University, Ms. Milford served as the Information Security Officer at the University of Rochester, where she successfully incorporated security planning and operations into strategic IT initiatives. In that role, she developed and led an information security program that included disaster recovery planning, identity management, incident response and user awareness. As Information Security Manager at UW-Madison's Department of Information Technology from 1998 - 2004, she created the university's information security department and co-led in the development of an annual security conference. Ms. Milford has provided presentations on information technology at various national conferences and seminars and participated in the authorship of articles and courseware.
Ms. Milford has a B.S. in Accounting from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri and a J.D. from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois.
