Biography

Chief Burton Cole is a lifelong resident of Richmond and Wayne County and a graduate of Northeastern High School. Cole was a member of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department for 25 years and was Wayne County Sheriff from 1995 thru 1998. He retired from the Sheriff’s Department in 2000 and joined the Indiana University East Police Department in 2002.
