IUPD-Bloomington Chief Jill Lees, an IU alumna, rejoined IUPD-Bloomington in March 2019. As chief, she provides leadership, direction and oversight for all law enforcement functions on campus, where she began her law enforcement career as a cadet in 1993.

Lees graduated from the IU Police Academy in 1994 and the following year began working as a patrol officer with the Plainfield Police Department (Indiana). She progressed through the ranks during her 23 year career at the Plainfield Police Department, from patrol, juvenile officer, support services sergeant, lieutenant, captain and deputy chief of the support branch. Lees retired from the Plainfield Police just days before beginning her new leadership role at IUPD-Bloomington.
