As associate university director for IU Environmental Health and Safety, Kathryn Manteuffel provides leadership and operational oversight for the development of policy, strategy and comprehensive support of programs for Environmental Health and Safety for all Indiana University campuses toward the overarching goal of protecting the university community and the natural environment, while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, rules and regulations.

Prior to this most recent appointment, Manteuffel served IU as the regional director of EHS, providing comparable leadership and oversight for all of IU’s regional campuses (IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU Southeast and IU South Bend). Additionally, she had substantial devoted responsibilities toward the IU Northwest campus beyond the traditional environmental health and safety scope supporting the fire protection and safety program as well as emergency planning, response and recovery. She has been employed by Indiana University since 1995.

Mantueffel maintains a certificate/license as an asbestos building inspector in the State of Indiana as well as a certificate as a food protection manager.
