Security is an issue for every event. And if we do our job correctly, you never see it -- unless we want you to, said Doug Booher, director of University Events Management.
Let police know
Providing a safe environment for honored guests, audiences and event participants is important at Indiana University. Campus police need to be notified in advance of an event to determine if extra safety and security measures are needed and if these involve a cost.
Event emergency action plans
Every event needs to have an event emergency action plan so that problems caused by weather, power outages or other issues can be handled effectively. Contact Emergency Management and Continuity for a template and assistance at 317-274-8362 or email@example.com.
IU Bloomington students should complete the weather monitoring plan in the medium-event and large-event checklists provided by the Division of Student Affairs.
When illnesses or injuries occur
If the injury or illness is severe, immediately call 911. For any incident that is not occupationally-related, complete the Office of Insurance, Loss Control and Claim's Incident Reporting Form.
