Contribute to the Sgt. Tim Lewis Memorial Fund
While an undergraduate at Indiana University Bloomington, Tim Lewis was accepted into the IUPD Cadet Officer Program. After graduating from the IU Police Academy and completing two years as a part-time officer (PTO), Lewis applied to IUPD for a full-time officer position, which he filled for the next 30 years. During his time with IUPD, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant, later accepting a voluntary reduction in rank so that he could serve in the technical services division. Lewis spent eight years as a sergeant in the technical services division before transferring back to the uniform division.
In his honor, a fund has been established that allows friends, family, and the general public to make donations in Sgt. Lewis's name. This fund is used exclusively to support students accepted into the IU Police Academy, a program he held in high esteem. One of the many goals of this fund includes purchasing life-saving KevlarTM armor and other necessary gear to equip all part-time officers. Currently, all PTOs must supply this gear at their own cost, which can be in excess of $1,000 per officer.
With your help, we can honor the memory of Sgt. Lewis by helping train and protect future generations of police officers.
