Biography
IU South Bend Division Chief Kurt Matz rejoined the Indiana University Police Department in September of 2016. Matz began his career in law enforcement at the Northwest Division of IUPD and graduated with honors from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Shortly after this, Matz joined the Munster Indiana Police Department, where he rose through the ranks. Matz eventually earned the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Patrol Division Commander until retiring with 32 years of service. Throughout his career Matz focused on police training and is a certified instructor. Matz also specializes emergency and incident management.
