A safe and healthy environment for all

Indiana University Environmental Health and Safety (IUEHS) works to ensure that all our campuses are safe and healthy places to live, study, work, and visit. We develop, implement, and operate comprehensive programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as university policies.

Divisions and program areas

Public & environmental health

Specialists in public and environmental health create and implement guidelines, policies, and procedures that help keep Indiana University's community and environment healthy.

Occupational safety & health

Occupational safety and industrial hygiene staff provide technical expertise and support to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for IU employees.

Diving safety

IU has offered SCUBA diving training since 1963. Our Diving Safety Program oversees training, recreational, and scientific SCUBA diving and free snorkeling activities.

Radiation safety

Radiation safety professionals support the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing devices, which are important tools in teaching, research and clinical practice.

Research safety

Chemical and biological safety professionals support safe science by creating environments that are conducive for teaching and learning.
