Safety Training

You can help make IU a safer place

A student wearing drunk goggles attempts to operate a golf cart under the supervision of an IUPD officer as part of a driving impairment demonstration. The officer, sitting beside the student, is smiling but tightly gripping the vehicle's armrest.

When it comes to keeping yourself and those around you safe, awareness and knowledge are powerful tools.

IUPD offers a wide variety of crime prevention training and programs designed to help you build important skills—like whether to run, hide, or fight in an active shooter situation. Did you know that small changes to your building or classroom may reduce the risk of a crime happening? Maybe you’d like to learn how your tone of voice and word choices can calm a potentially volatile situation.

We also offer trainings that introduce you to emergency management and response, such as what to do when different kinds of severe weather or other natural disasters are afoot.
