Description of the video:

Welcome to Indiana University. No matter what campus you call home across the state, IU public safety is here to serve you. Police and emergency personnel work on every campus providing 24-hour service. Find out about the training and services we provide, where we are located, and how to contact us at protect.iu.edu.

Staying safe means being prepared and knowing what resources are available to help you. If there's any emergency, call or text 911 anytime, any day to get help. Every IU student, faculty, and staff member receives IU Notify alerts and text messages on their phone or in their email inbox.

These messages tell you how to stay safe and what to do in an emergency. Make sure your IU Notify contact information is up to date online so you'll know what to do in an emergency. All IU students and employees can download the free RaveGuardian app. The app has personal safety resources like a safe walk timer, which is a virtual escort that allows your family and friends to know if you made it home safely. It also gives you quick access to police and other safety resources on your campus. Whether you're on or off campus, there are easy ways to protect yourself from crime.

Keep your valuables out of sight. Lock the doors and windows to your home or vehicle. Register your bike or scooter with university and store it in a well-lit area with a sturdy U lock or use a bike locker. Never leave your laptop, phone, or other valuable items in a classroom or study space.

Record the make, model, and serial number of any valuable items so they can be tracked back to you more easily if they are misplaced or stolen. Familiarize yourself with the buildings on campus that you use the most. know where the exits are and how to evacuate if there's a fire or where to go if there's a tornado warning. We limit access to certain buildings, including residence halls, to ensure the safety of everyone on our campuses. Don't prop doors open or let people into the building who haven't used an Indiana University ID to get in. Always be mindful of your surroundings and try to avoid situations that would make you unsafe. Use the buddy system when walking at night and keep your phone charged so you can call for help. In social situations, always watch your

drink and don't give anyone the chance to put something in it. Don't get into a vehicle with someone you don't know or someone who can't prove they are with an official ride service.

Follow your instincts and avoid a situation that feels suspicious. Remember, safety is everyone's responsibility. If you see something, say something. You can complete a report online or send an anonymous tip using the Rave Guardian app. We're here to help you. IU public safety provides free training on self-defense and on how to respond to active aggressors with run, hide, fight. Your safety is our highest priority. We want you to have an incredible experience living, learning, and working at Indiana University. Follow IU police and public safety on social media for special safety information.
