Commission Report

Policy, Hiring, and Training Review Commission

The Policy, Hiring, and Training Review Commission brought together IU students, staff, faculty members, and IUPD staff over the course of 2020 and 2021 to review IUPD policies, hiring and recruitment practices, and training with the goal of continuing our efforts to professionalize IUPD and improve community policing in the communities we serve.

The commission issued a report of their findings that will serve as a roadmap for IUPD over the next few years.

About the commission report

The Policy, Hiring, and Training Review Commission report consists of three pillars:

  • Policies
  • Hiring, recruitment, and retention
  • Training

Across the three pillars, there are 19 specific recommendations. Each recommendation is assigned a specific deadline for completion.

IU Internal Audit will conduct an independent audit in the future to ensure the recommendations were implemented.
