Biography
As director for compliance, Tanner’s focus is on ensuring Indiana University meets the requirements of federal and state regulations in regard to public safety matters. His primary focus is ensuring IU stays compliant with the Clery Act, as an institution participating in Title IV. Programs Involving Children (PIC) compliance is his other key concentration. Ensuring compliance in these areas occurs through working with a team of individuals within IU Public Safety, as well as leadership across the university.
Prior to joining IU Public Safety in 2022, Tanner was a senior operations and financial auditor with IU Internal Audit, where his focus was research-related audits, data analytics, and public safety audits. Tanner also held roles within the Office of Research Administration in financial reporting and grant services. Before coming to IU in 2014, he worked as a gaming auditor and casino finance analyst for the French Lick Resort and Casino. Tanner is a Certified Internal Auditor through the Institute of Internal Auditors.
