Chemical fume hood certification
The Chemical Hygiene Plan states that all chemical fume hoods will be tested annually to ensure that they have adequate flow for chemical containment. The criteria for acceptable fume hood performance is hood specific and will be determined by IUEHS.
All fume hoods that pass our minimum face velocity requirement for the hood will be tagged with a sticker showing the maximum height for your fume hood sash and the average face velocity. If a fume hood fails to meet the minimum requirement, it will be tagged with a “Do Not Use” sign. If you find your hood tagged with one of these signs, please do not use the fume hood until the fume hood has been fixed by facilities and the sign has been removed by a member of EHS staff.
