Purpose
To state the Indiana University Police Department’s (IUPD) emergency response equipment and supplies are stored in a state of operational readiness and are inspected semi-annually.
General Order
The quartermasters are responsible for ensuring and maintaining the operational readiness of all IUPD emergency response equipment and supplies stored at their division. The emergency response equipment and supplies include, but are not limited to, capture shields, ballistic shields, riot shields, riot/emergency response group equipment (helmets, face shields, batons, protective gear, etc.), personal protective equipment, and bottled water or other consumable goods. A documented inspection of this equipment and these supplies will be completed in January and July of each year.
All IUPD personnel are responsible for all items that have been issued to them and maintaining these items in a state of operational readiness. Employees will report missing and/or defective equipment to their supervisor and to the division’s quartermaster. Such equipment will be repaired or replaced as soon as practical.
All weapons are inspected in accordance with G7.2.3 Weapons Control.
