Purpose
To describe the procedures for access to and release of criminal history records of individuals who are arrested by the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD).
General Order
IUPD personnel will only access Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) while in the discharge of their official mandated responsibilities or as part of conducting a law enforcement investigation. All other use is strictly prohibited.
The IUPD will not release CHRI to any non-criminal justice agency or individual.
The IUPD will only release CHRI following the guidelines established in Indiana Code 10-13-3.
The IUPD will release CHRI to a prosecutor’s office upon request and a record of this dissemination will be maintained.
