Purpose
To state the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) complies with Indiana University’s equal opportunity policy and practices.
General Order
Indiana University (IU) prohibits discrimination on the basis of age, color, disability, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or veteran status. Consistent with IU policy UA-01 and applicable procedures, the IUPD takes steps to ensure fair and equitable employment opportunities. The IUPD’s Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) plays an important role in the IUPD’s equal employment opportunity plan.
Equal Employment Opportunity Plan
The IUPD works collaboratively with Indiana University Human Resources and the Office of Institutional Equity on a variety of employment matters. In addition, the IUPD’s CDO participates in the administration of selection processes to help ensure equal employment opportunities. The CDO also advises and consults on matters aimed at strengthening efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The IUPD follows university guidelines in employment opportunities. Job postings will be free of biased language and will clearly distinguish between required and desirable qualifications. All employment announcements advertised outside the university will contain the required equal employment and non-discrimination language. All screening criteria will reflect the content of the position and departmental needs. Applicants will be reviewed based upon their individual qualifications. Interview questions will be consistent with all candidates and free of bias.
