Purpose
To state the psychological examination pre-employment contingency requirement for all candidates who have accepted a sworn position with the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD).
General Order
The IUPD requires a psychological examination, administered by a qualified professional as determined by the IUPD, to be completed by all candidates who have accepted a sworn position. Candidates must complete the examination prior to their start date.
Psychological Examination
A psychological examination of each candidate who has accepted a sworn position will be conducted and assessed by a qualified professional as part of the pre-employment contingencies. Cadet Officer Program participants will complete the psychological examination prior to being accepted into the Indiana University Police Academy. The IUPD’s business operations manager will coordinate the completion of this examination.
The psychological examination consists of a clinical interview, review of background, and administration and scoring of an appropriate test as determined by the qualified professional. The qualified professional will provide documentation of their examination to the business operations manager, and the documentation will be retained in accordance with IU policy.
