Purpose
To state the annual in-service training requirement for employees of the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD).
General Order
The director for professional standards and education oversees the IUPD’s in-service training program. Training is assigned to IUPD personnel depending on the requirements of their role and department need. All personnel will complete training as assigned.
Annual In-Service Training
The director for professional standards and education will ensure the IUPD’s in-service training program includes at minimum:
- all State of Indiana mandated in-service training requirements for sworn officers,
- all Indiana University required training for employees, and
- all training as required by IUPD general orders.
The director for dispatch communications will ensure all public safety dispatchers complete twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education training each calendar year as required under Indiana Code.
The superintendent for public safety or designee may assign additional in-service training at their discretion.
Personnel attending an in-person training session will report at the time and location specified, dressed in the appropriate attire and with the required materials and equipment necessary to complete the training.
Personnel will complete all training as assigned and by the due date. Extensions may be granted at the discretion of the director for dispatch communications (for public safety dispatchers) or professional standards and education staff (for all other employees).
All in-service training will be documented within the Training Management System (TMS).
