Purpose
To state the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) provides job-related training to promoted or selected personnel for supervisory roles.
General Order
All personnel that are newly promoted or selected for a supervisory position will complete training related to their position within one (1) year of their promotion or selection.
The director for professional standards and education is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and documentation of job-related training for newly promoted or selected personnel for supervisory roles. Depending on the nature of the role, the director for professional standards and education may designate appropriate personnel to develop, implement and document the training.
New sergeants and lieutenants whose primary responsibilities are operations and/or patrol will complete the supervisor field training program as described in the Supervisor Field Training Manual. The supervisor field training program is conducted under the direction of the director for professional standards and education and the IUPD’s field training coordinator.
