Purpose
To define the initial and refresher training of personnel on the Indiana University Police Department’s G9.2.2 Pursuit of Motor Vehicles general order to meet the minimum standards set by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board.
General Order
All Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) sworn personnel will receive initial and annual refresher training on the IUPD’s G9.2.2 Pursuit of Motor Vehicles. Training will be conducted in accordance with the Professional Standards Education & Training section’s curriculum and documentation standards.
Training
Newly hired sworn personnel will complete the initial training during the onboarding process.
All sworn personnel will complete refresher training annually.
When there is a change in the G9.2.2 Pursuit of Motor Vehicles, the new version will be disseminated to all personnel on the IUPD’s document management system. All personnel will be required to review the updated version and attest that they have reviewed the general order.
Documentation
The division’s training coordinator will ensure that the training documentation, to include lesson plans and rosters, are maintained and logged in accordance with the Professional Standards Education & Training section’s documentation standards.
For the purposes of this training, the G9.2.2 Pursuit of Motor Vehicles will serve as a component of the lesson plan.
