Armed robbery suspect identified and arrested

BLOOMINGTON - Through diligent investigative work by the Indiana University Police Department, and in conjunction with the Monroe County High Tech Crime Unit, the suspect from the October 22, 2023, armed robbery case in Bloomington, has been identified as 18-year-old Jack D. Hobbs IV. Hobbs was located by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and arrested on the following charges: Armed Robbery (level 3 felony), Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon (level 5 felony), and Intimidation (level 5 felony).
Shortly after 3:00 AM on October 22, 2023, officers responded to McNutt Quad in reference to an armed robbery that occurred in the 1100 block of E. 13th Street. The student victim reported that they attended an off-campus party with a group of individuals that they met online earlier in the night. After the party, the suspect offered to give the student a ride back to campus. The suspect drove the student to the 13th Street parking lot where they battered the student using a handgun and took multiple items before leaving campus.
