IUPD recovers stolen property with community assistance, two suspects arrested

BLOOMINGTON – Case No. 250612, On February 10, 2025, Indiana University Police responded to a reported burglary at the maintenance building of the IU Pfau Golf Course. An IU employee stated that between February 8 and February 10, multiple high-value items were stolen from the building, amounting to a total loss of $94,872.93.
On February 13, 2025, the IU Police Department requested the community's help on social media to locate a stolen 2019 John Deere tractor. Thanks to a tip from a Facebook follower, detectives were able to identify a key location in the investigation.
On February 14, detectives executed a search warrant at an off-campus location, leading to the arrest of two suspects: Caleb Thurman and Caelan Hamilton. Thurman and Hamilton were arrested for level 5 felony burglary, level 5 felony theft, and level 6 felony theft. Hamilton was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.
The IU Police Department is grateful for the community's support in this case. Thanks to the valuable information provided by a concerned citizen, officers were able to recover $93,525.93 worth of stolen property.
